If Home Is Where Your Heart Is. . . .

I know that I have a great MIL.  I've always known that (she was actually on the "pro" list when I was figuring out Andy long term).  But this weekend (yesterday) I just got really overwhelmed by just how amazing she is.  She loves me and I know that! Friday night I had my first ever launch call for these health products and several thousand people saw that I was having that call--many good friends, some family and a zillion acquaintances.  Who supported me on my call?  BeBe.  My mother-in-law.  She didn't need to.  She wasn't there to really learn about the products as much as she was there just to support me.  Out of the hundreds of thousands of things she has selflessly done for me over the past 20 years, Friday night really spoke to me.  Then Saturday she drove out of her way on her way out of town to buy me special yarn so that I can braid Gabby's hair (it is hard to get here).  She knew I needed it before school pictures ...

As I wrote about earlier, Hays had an amazing weekend in Washington D.C. hanging out with Andy and getting to meet some great people in the US Air Force.  He met his USAFA mentor and met one of the recruitment Lieutenant Colonels and he got to go to the Navy vs. Air Force game.  If he hadn't fully caught the USAFA bug when we went to the Academy last month, he has it now! So, the recruiter suggested that he get involved in his local Air Force Civil Air Patrol unit and we've done the research and made the calls and next week he will join.  I've been researching it online and it seems amazing!  It is a weekly year round program with summer intensives and occasional weekend camps.  They study Leadership, Aerospace, Fitness, Character and Activities (CAP offers weekend and summer activities that allow cadets to fly, learn to lead, explore aerospace careers, assist in CAP's emergency service missions and make friend s).  The cadets wear their uniform and ev...

If you're one of my consistent readers, then you remember THIS post when I was blogging about how I felt like a dead battery because I was just so exhausted all of the time. . . . Well, fast forward several weeks and I am feeling exactly the opposite.  Has life gotten less chaotic?  No!  It has actually gotten more hectic and stressful and I feel fantastic!  How?  I'm doing this great new total health program and I just want to share it with everyone!  I know, I sound like a cheese ball, but how can I keep something so great to myself? The highlights are: 1.  I have so much energy. 2.  My mood is the best ever (and emotionally, things have been tough recently). 3.  I am sleeping better than I ever remember sleeping--sound and restful all night long. 4.  No more migraines (I was having them weekly). 5.  My tummy doesn't hurt (I didn't realize how bad my stomach hurt all of the time until it stopped). 6.  If all of th...

This morning was spent Spring (Fall) cleaning and rearranging furniture(this included sorting thousands of Legos by color and moving living room furniture from the basement to the living room and vice versa) and after that, we headed to the pumpkin patch with our Durango Grandma, Louise.  It was a beautiful day and the kids had a blast playing in the Corn Box for hours and shooting corn on the cob at pumpkins from massive potato guns and running through the corn stalk maze and riding on a hay ride.  It was a great afternoon!

Yesterday was a fun and random day.  Maggie had friends spend the night and everyone got up early for waffles.  It was a shockingly easy meal and easy clean up.  I vote waffles over pancakes always now!  Gabby met Lesley at her house and they went to Home Depot where it was home safety day and they had a blast (see pics below)!  I took Maggie and a couple of friends to the Durango "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" fair where we had facials and sampled food and looked at jewelry and bags and clothes.  We met some other friends there and had a great couple of hours with no boys!  Our afternoon was one of napping (Gabby) and playing outside (Dax & Tiki).  It was a nice relaxing and fun day without thinking of the other stresses the week days seem to bring. Seventeen years ago today Andy proposed to me.  He was in the musical "Me & My Girl" and he proposed after the curtain call--from stage.  (His character was the old man who never told the lady he loved that he loved her until the very end of the show.)  I was so excited and so mortified (I don't do stages).  Poor guy got on one knee and asked me in front of a packed house and I froze. . .he had to come off stage to the row where I was sitting.  It was neat that he chose to propose to me in the theatre where he spent so much time and with all of his theatre friends there cheering him on.  And he was so thoughtful to have much of our extended family there and my college friends (some of whom left their formals to come).  Overall, even though I was so embarrassed, it was a very thoughtful proposal.  Looking back on the pictures makes it even better.  I'm so thankful that he asked and I don't regret saying YES (even though Andy swears th...
