All is well here. I started out a little tired this morning trying to get five kids and myself fed and organized and lunches packed, but I took my amazing XYNG (my all natural "happy pill") and the day quickly got better! I may actually have my entire class hooked on them as well!!! Yipee for my supplements!
The kids were great today. They behaved for Maggie (thanks for the prayers) and she was confident enough to take them home after lunch to nap and play at the house while I stayed at school!
Classes were wonderful! My brain is about to explode, but I learned so much about advocacy and human rights and politics. Wow! Tomorrow is our last four hours of that class before we move on to Marketing (each class is 20 classroom hours here in Rwanda).
Hays said that today was an even better day at work than yesterday--and yesterday was great. I got an email from his supervisor telling me what a great job he is doing. That may have been the highlight of my dad--proud mama!!!
I came home from class and laid on the bed with Maggie and Gabby (I need to put my feet up) and we just talked. It was fun. Come to think of it, Maggie and I had a great time talking in bed in the dark last night, too. My time with my kids here has been (and will continue to be, I'm sure) very sweet. It is nice having no commitments once I get home from school beyond eating and cleaning up dinner. This is the nice slow pace we needed for a little bit. (Interesting that for me slow is just five kids and 8 hours of Master's level classes each day.)
Tomorrow is flip flop day!!!! I am very excited. I think my only anxiety now is that the nuns will kind of blow us off. They aren't expecting us. I've tried to get word to them, but I'm not sure that happened. I felt like they kind of blew us off when we were there getting Tiki originally, so I feel like they may blow us off tomorrow. I hope we get to give them the flip flops and tell them of Tiki's birthday wish. And I hope (for Tiki's sake) that they let us stay a while and see the orphanage and play with the kids. I'm not as anxious anymore about Tiki's reaction. He is so in love with Rwanda, that I don't think it will be too traumatic for him. However, I will remain alert and available just in case. I can't wait to share pictures and stories from tomorrow!
That's all for today. Sweet dreams from Rwanda!
